Tereneckla soon took up residence as well. Avernum quickly grew to about a dozen residents, established friendly contact with the LSIF, and contributed to efforts to rebuild the ruined N5k2 (now Mount Augusta). Residents also maintained a small

series of public shelters to assist travellers. While residents and travellers were individually welcomed throughout its history, the city's location remained a secret for some time. The city's census listed residents and their political

leanings, and was readily available in a number of locations. Panarchism The first (and still possibly the only) panarchist settlement, Avernum has a minimal set of rules and encourages residents to organize as they

choose and settle disputes peacefully. Ideas that war elsewhere have rarely even escalated to a heated argument. The city's building code keeps the city compact and travel easy, and sees parks, libraries, private

storefronts, and communal farms work together to keep everyone alive, supplied, and entertained. Present Day Most of the city's 40-or-so residents have moved on, and a number of the buildings sit dormant. A small group of

residents, and the occasional new arrival, remain to maintain the city and expand it at a slow rate.
