To be classed as a trader one must first have something to trade. Simple enough.
To be a prosperous trader one must first understand what to trade.
Page 5 of 24 Civcraft being the diverse jumble of wares, people, supply, demand, may be a harsh mistress when it comes to finding what to trade. Every area, every quad, every city, every town has something they need or want. Whether you're nomadic, or living out of a
Page 6 of 24 fixed place someone around you wants something. How one gets and supplies that something is up to them.
This pocket-guide offers a somewhat biased perspective due to the fact that one has never stayed in an individual area for a prolonged
Page 7 of 24 period of time and does infact enjoy the open rails.
To source a resource can be self-sourced or imported externally throuch the people you meet. Know a guy in Aytos that sells you Ink Sacs for 2 iron for 16? Well go sell 8 Ink Sacs for 3 iron at
Page 8 of 24 Terminus. Stumbled upon an extensive vein in your travels? Invest.
Page 9 of 24 The efficiency of Investment.
Now, as a beginner trader it is unlikely you have embarked upon this journey with much weight in your pockets. The products you are fencing, sourcing are still tied to the amount you put in.
Page 10 of 24 They are ineffective in the long term and will become more costly when it comes to time.
A week of trading may earn you anything from five to fifty diamonds and stockpiling the little blue rocks of happiness is an action that seldom pays off. The key to
Page 11 of 24 the gates of the future? Investment.
Either talk your way into it or rent someones factory for a while. Invest in a product with better re-sale value. See what is selling and what is not.
Aqquired fifteen of
Page 12 of 24 those much sought after diamonds? Throw them into a factory and get fifteen of those essential tools everyone eventually needs. Retail them at two each and re-invest. Every step moving you one step up the ladder of prosperity.
Page 13 of 24 The Way of the Roads.
Civcraft offers an extensive railroad to connect anyone to anywhere with minimal effort or input required. Pick up a cart, slap it on the rails and visit the towns of the world.
Sure this shaves the
Page 14 of 24 possibility of encounter to a fraction and the majority down to thousands of stone brick and rail but this is just another way of utilizing the world's functions correctly.
Page 15 of 24 The People
The vast expanses of this world harbour an even vaster amount of great people who you'd be a fool not to contact once in a while. Your voice may be limited to a thousand blocks but your messages sure are not! What harm is in
Page 16 of 24 shooting someone a quick message while you're on the rails or otherwise.
Page 17 of 24 Safety on the roads:
Newspawns: Though they do not pose a threat their demeanour is never predictable and should be approached with caution.
Everyone else: Civcraft can often be impersonal to the
Page 18 of 24 extent someone you see in tab frequently is someone you'ved never talked to in your life and never intend on it. Such is the way of the open road, see someone brandishing a sword hurdling towards you just run and once you're safe enough talk to them and
Page 19 of 24 find out their true intentions.
Page 21 of 24 Summary:
Trading, for me, is one of the most enjoyable play styles out there. Sure you can power play and feel good about your expanse of resources but there is nothing like meeting new people, finding out their stories and making
Page 22 of 24 a good sum at the end of it. Civcraft is throbbing with tales of adventure, wonder and a good bunch of people who you'll feel better for meeting and if you every want to settle are usually open to offering a hand.
Good luck.
