§0§l================§0 §4The Somber War is Somber No More§0
§0NOX VAULT: After months of grueling and tiresome battle and bloodshed, the Somber War finally draws to a close with a decisive victory to the Western Alliance. This past
Page 4 of 24 weekend, the Western Alliance rallied up players from several different nations to launch an all out assault on Lexington's last bastion of defense: the Nox Vault. Nations involved in the raid include Falstadt, Mir, Commonwealth, Yoahtl, Vinland, Okashima
Page 5 of 24 , Gensokyo, amongst others. The victory was largely due to the sheer number of players that arrived to help, as well as the meticulous planning from the Western Alliance. Weeks before the assault, the Western Alliance began building a vault of their own
Page 6 of 24 1,000 blocks away from the objective, all unbeknownst to the Lexington defenders. On the morning of the attack, the Western Alliance members constructed a skybridge from their vault, known as Tinian, to the Nox Vault. In an exclusive interview
Page 7 of 24 with Maxopoly, who played a key role in desiging both Tinian and the skybridge, he had told me that the current skybridge was a significant upgrade from the design used in the previous attack. "In the previous one they could still bow us from above,
Page 8 of 24 this one gave them no angle to bow us while breaking bastions. This one also had proper counter measures to running around on top which was a problem last time". After the defenders had grew impatient, they decided to breach the skybridge via one of the
Page 9 of 24 vault's archer rings. Alas, this proved to be Lexington's fatal mistake, as is resulted in the pearling of VitaCoco, FrenchFrys, Augusta, and sintralin. After these defenders were pearled, the few who remained fled the vault, allowing the attacking force
Page 10 of 24 to access the vault's auxillary skybunker and inevitably the main vault itself. Within a few hours many of the pearls held within Lexington's vault were freed. §0
§0The fall of Lexington was followed by the formation of the Southern Axis Treaty
Page 11 of 24 Organization, otherwise known as SATO. Comprised of Yoahtl, Falstadt, Vinland and Okashima, its objectives starkly contrast those of the Western Alliance. SATO aims to focus on cultural and economic cooperation whereas the Western Alliance was oriented
Page 12 of 24 towards war and military strength. Hopefully, SATO can take advantage of this period of peace to help further strenghten the relations between the southern powers.

§0§l================§0Tides of change with New Election by Wingzero54§0
§0
§0The April election comes on the heels of some election reform -- That being new rules stating all citizens running for council must publicly
Page 14 of 24 announce on the subreddit, and vote tallies will not be released until the end of voting. The rules were enacted to disallow stealth candidacies, such as BG who did not publicly announce running, but turned up on the roster on voting week.
Page 15 of 24 They also were passed in the hope of reducing the amount of voting which was done based on seeing the vote count, which would push for voting for who you want, not who you want to keep in or out depending on the current tally.§0
§0This may be the first
Page 16 of 24 election on CivClassics in which not many old players ran - only Bgbba and MightyOddish ran from the old group, and myself being a junior councillor. The vast majority of candidates were instead all newcomers to Yoahtl, most having been a part of the
Page 17 of 24 Yoahtl community for under a year. This is a sign of a changing of the players and mindset of Yoahtl - a topic which I wrote about in my previous op ed during the last election. Yoahtl is no longer filled with original players who are immersed in the lore
Page 18 of 24 and tradition, and instead by new players who are striving to build an economic powerhouse with a strong military and respected world standing. As with the previous election, I'm eager to see what the future holds. The fall of Lexington marks a changing
Page 19 of 24 of the tide, and how will Yoahtl react to the ensuing peace, and inevitable ripples of turmoil?

§0===================1.12 Update Brings Diamond Crisis!§0
§0NEW YOAHTL CITY: While the new update to 1.12 has brought the players of CivClassics many new features to enjoy, such as ExilePearl, city bastions, concrete and terracotta, it hasn't
Page 21 of 24 arrived without some issues. The switch to the newest release of the game has affected the HiddenOre plugin's ore spawn rates, and subsequently made diamonds extremely rare and difficult to find. For more established players, this has little impact, as
Page 22 of 24 they still primarily acquire diamonds through commerce and trade, however it hampers a newfriend's ability to make create wealth and establish themselves in the server. Although the mods are working hard fixing this issue and responding to
Page 23 of 24 the slurry of modmail that have been sent in response to this bug, many of the newfriends who joined after the update still have next to no diamonds, further hurting the already low newfriend retention rates. The increasing scarcity of diamonds is also
Page 24 of 24 affecting the value of other mediums of currency, particularly iron. Hopefully the mods will continue working to fix this bug and stabilize the economy and allow newfriends to progress more easily.
